We all see the self assessment penalties are disproportionate paralleled to the offence committed but has anyone been able to convince HMRC to waive power these excessive and unjust penalties.

Sie Assessment Penalties

Quite candid I'm astonished toward the number of emails stating success at appealing Self Assessment penalties! MYSELF made a mistake on my self-assessment from in relation to redundancy payment and, when this was pick to my notice immediately accepted it and payment the additional tax well within the time limit so there was no currently nor potential loss to the Exchequer. HMRC still pursued the penalty despite my MP writing to the Head of HMRC pointing out that the purpose and intent of the legislation made oriented at catching persistent plus obvious perpetrators pretty with those who fabricated one genuine mistake: after all the self assessment books are not this easy to follow. When corresponding with HMRC they accepted they'd made blunders but pursued das fork an penalty, which in the end I paid due to being "worn down" from HMRC's harrassment. Wish I'd seen these email threads with to time because I'd can taken heart starting the and resisted them to the bitter out! This select occur inside 2009/10: can anyone advisory if I cannot revisit this on HMRC and try to recover the £784.51 HMRC "fleeced" me of?

In the meantime I've had another late payment fine! It's spiralling out of control. Cash durchsatz is cannot normally an excuse. HMRC don't like this idea that you've spent they money more well since your own.

However, if you may concentrated your case over your other troubles, emphasing that they were beyond your manage, and offer up payout the tax due - prefer still, get that element of the debt gainful - them might are a ghost of a luck.
